Dr S. Balaraman Kaimal has obtained a PhD from Cochin University of Science and Technology, India and currently he is a Professor of Biochemistry at Saveetha Medical College, Chennai. He is a neurobiologist and is active in research in surgery, neurobiology, nanotechnology and regenerative medicine. He worked as a post-doctoral fellow in the USA and the Republic of Korea before starting independent research in India. He has 13 research articles published in receptor pharmacology, nanotechnology and brain stroke. He also has filed four patents in India during the COVID-19 pandemic along with establishing a COVID-19 test facility in the medical college. As Principal Investigator and Co-investigator, he could avail national and international research grants of over INR7.0M. he is a policy maker, social worker and science writer too.
